Risks

Are you sure you want to get a tattoo? About 20% of tattooed people have regrets afterwards. What are the risks to your health?

IMPORTANT NOTE: Ancien Combattant Tattoo does NOT tattoo under the age of 18.

Even if you have a signed consent form of your legal guardian.

The application of a tattoo is a skin piercing operation. Proper practice and use of equipment should prevent you from becoming infected with a blood-borne disease. Such as Hepatitis B and C.

In addition, poor care and unhygienic treatment (both by yourself and the practitioner) can cause wound infections that are harmful and will not make your tattoo any prettier.

Before you get a tattoo you will be asked to fill out a consent form. This consent form includes a number of questions about your health. Filling out the consent form is for your own safety and mine.

This consent form will remain in the possession of Ancien Combattant Tattoo for 1 year and will be treated confidentially according to the conditions set forth in the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG).

Precautionary Instructions

Make sure the skin is clean and preferably scrubbed.

This means that your body has to be CLEAN. A proper hygiene is highly recommended, take a good shower and put on fresh comfortable clothes before you leave your house.

Keeping your body clean also means that alcohol, drugs and any kind of stuff can NOT be used at least 24 hours before your tattoo session.

Make sure that you had a goodnight sleep before the session and just relax, don't rush anything.

Bring a pillow if you like it's for your own comfort. Sometimes while getting tattooed your body will react to the pain and you'll be starting to feel cold, so it is NO problem if you bring a blanket.

Don't forget the whole process of getting tattooed is exciting, painful and most of all it could get boring.

So bring portable entertainment with you, like a MP3-player, tablet or phone.

Aftercare Instructions

A newly applied tattoo is similar to an abrasion. The wound created by tattooing needs time and care to heal. With proper care, the wound will heal after about 1 week.

Ancien Combattant Tattoo gives you verbal and written instructions on tattoo aftercare.

The instructions also include contacting your doctor in case of symptoms (severe redness, swelling, pus, wound fluids).

During the healing period, the following are strongly discouraged

DO NOT go swimming or work out,

DO NOT bathe, showering is not a problem,

DO NOT rub yourself dry, but dab gently,

DO NOT sunbathe, including under the sunbed,

DO NOT use the sauna and/or hot tub,

DO NOT peel off leftovers, let them fall off.

Even after the healing time on your tattoo always use a high protection factor when sunbathing.
